Pissed Orkin Customer

Orkin does not care about the customer. Otherwise they would have a number that Orkin Corporate would answer.

The driver randomly parked in a parking lot too close to my car. Keep in mind, he was parked inexplicably close and wasn't in an actual space, nor did he have any connection to my place of work.

I asked him to move, but the driver was very abrupt from the outset. He jumped out of the car, still refusing to move, and went in to inform my HR department.

If this driver is any indication of your other employees, I'll speak to my company to never do business with you in the future, should they ever decide to do so. I will also never solicit your company's services.

Charged for service after house was sold

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My 89-year-old father had his house on the market and there was mouse activity. We contacted Orkin and made it clear that we needed short-term rodent control and that the service would end when the house was sold.

I called when the house was in escrow to tell Orkin to come pick up the bait boxes and that the service was no longer needed. They picked up the bait boxes but then they supposedly did a service on 12/9/24 when the escrow was scheduled to close 12/11/24. They say they have no record of my call and that they need written notice to cancel. My father was charged $125 for service on a house that he doesn't even own now.

I have tried calling Customer Service multiple times. The person who answers tells me they have to contact the local office. I sit on hold for 5 minutes and then they tell me nobody is answering so they will send a message and someone will contact me. Three times now and nobody has contacted me.

My only option now is to dispute the credit card charge. I am not a happy daughter.

I would never use this company again. We have a pest control service at our home and they are very good at communicating and doing just what we want them to do.

Mice assessment

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have used this service for over a decade for my house. I had mice in my house. They came over for their assessment and inspection. This is the plan they proposed:

1) Remove attic insulation and spray: $10,000

2) Seal house entry points: $6,000

Total cost: $16,000

They tried to pressure me to do things quickly. I went and got a few second opinions. I obtained pest control treatment from a local company for $450. A handyman was hired to seal holes in the house structure for $1000 and for attic insulation, the cost was $5000.

I mean, come on, Orkin - why did you try to cheat me? Apparently, they run around Delaware doing this. They are essentially a bunch of crooks. It turns out the extra $10,000 in their proposal goes to the local team.

cant get a reasonable answer for large amount charged. Contacted your phone # multiple times and a supervisor is never available.

Had a short inspection for bedbugs which was negative and lasted 20 minutes or less and was charged 187. dollars.

You give free inspections for other services but not for this. Very dissatisfied

The agency recommended some services that were unnecessary. They have not honored their contract stating they would come back if there were still issues.

Their services have ended up causing other issues that have cost me more money and the corporate office will not talk to me. I am seeking further action.

Terrible service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I called Orkin for a termite inspection. The sales representative came to my house and proceeded to explain the service that I was going to receive.

I was told that they would treat for drywood termites as well as subterranean. I was informed that they would be drilling holes in the concrete every 12 inches and pulling down pesticide to treat for subterranean termites. When the service technician came, he had a different idea and decided to turn the liquid pesticide into an aerosol and spray it into the ceiling around the interior of my house. This house has a flat roof, so he basically sprayed it directly into the fiberglass insulation where termites don't live.

Then, they installed bait stations around my house—7 on one side and 3 on the other. Of them, 4 out of the 7 are against the slab and 3 are on the other side of the walkway. They didn't drill any holes in the concrete and when I asked the sales representative, I was informed that they had changed the plan. I wasn't told anything about it or consulted.

So, for the $3000 they are charging, there is nothing on the back of my house and only 3 bait stations on the other.

When I tried to get an answer from the manager, I was told that they had gone above and beyond helping with my termite infestation. I cannot recommend doing business with these people.

Unable to give any good rating.

Im 77, widow. Orkin was my second choice only because I chose a local company, STAT, now CERTUS (oh, Im pissed off about STAT as well!).

Orkin I chose next as they were supposedly great.

What a bunch off Keystone Cops. First, I call for rodent control.

They send out Julius who provides me with a vape battier & bait boxes for about $254.00+. He said someone else would be by and took my money. Great.

Except when the salesperson comes, he says one year rodent control is $2,800.00 and asked ME if it sounded right. I said I guess, if you get rid of the rodents. I asked he send me a hard copy of the contract, which I never received and when I called Shane, I found out he was no longer with Orkin. Still no copy of my signed contract.

When I called to see what exactly my contract was for I was tol inky ONE MONTH OF RODENT CONTROL & the rest for Pest Control.

I did not know that, as I told Shane I HAVE A PEST CONTROL COMPANY. So I was told by who I presumed was the office manager that I would be getting my $2,800.00 back, and I canceled right then. Before July 1.

Shane took my credit card number just in case. Remember I am 77 and who would not trust ORKIN.

Orkin not only took my over $ 250.00; card payment for what Julius said WAS THE RODENT CONTROL on June 01.

I never saw or signed a contract with Shane until at least 2 weeks later. I then I couldnt reach Shane. So, a Jay takes over and the trouble begins in earnest. He claims I wont get my $2,800.00 back.

He claims that was for the hard work Julius did vaping and baiting.

I just want to say this is highly unusual in that how can Orkin sign me up 2 weeks later, to a totally erroneous contract after taking less than $2,800.00 for the service he provided and how can this Branch take my money? They were in process of billing my credit card for JULY when the payment wouldnt go through and THAT is so SNEAKY.

A Company as huge as Orkin is exploiting an old woman, trying tipo bully me. They claim I said I never signed a contract. The Branch manager was pleased to let me know they were wroff the $54.00 charge that did not go through.

Voila! Problem solved?? According to the branch, so I shall reach out to Corporate again because I am sick of branches/franchises/whatever setting different prices with no explanations except hemming and hawing and if I do not get my money back, I shall have to decide if legal action is next.

How dare those people shove an older woman around on the phone so rudely, belligerently, and uncalled for? And get away with $2,800.00 of my cash when now I am having a real big issue with rodents EVERYWHERE.

They dont care.

Im tired of this culture or rude employees. Id like to say more but probably said too much.

I was contacted by the Regional manager. I explained what had happened, he asked me to send documents to him.

That was on March 18th.

To date, I have not received any further correspondence from the RM, I have however received 3 late notices and numerous calls from RAC. I am still waiting for the Regional Manager to reconnect with me.

Original review Feb 19, 2024
BEWARE!! It looks to me as if this company scams people.

I called them for help in June of 2020, we agreed to a service, the sales representative. told me that the cost for treating my basement and foundation would be at 10% SIMPLE interest (actually he said it was a FLAT interest rate) for a total cost of $20,000, he said if I included the crawl space in my attic that would be an additional 7,000 to 8,000 dollars. I told him no, that I could not afford that additional charge and that we would just go with the basement and foundation. He had me sign electronically, a tablet for the contract.

I was NEVER offered a copy of what I signed. They did the work and went on their way. I started receiving statements, each statement included only the amount billed, the amount paid, a breakdown of the payment, interest and principal and the total amount paid to date. NO WHERE on the invoice was there a total amount due.

I was watching the bills and striving towards the total amount paid of $20,000. Fast forward to November of 2023, I received a statement with a payment due that was less than the previous amounts due, and the total amount paid was $19,585.80. I sent in the payment due and marked it PAID IN FULL. Then in December, on the 22nd, 2023, I received a bill with a balance due of $7,740.68 (not a pay-off) WTH???

I was supposed to be paid in full at $20,000??? I called RAC, the company who did the financing and spoke with a young woman who answered the phone . She apologized to me said that she sees this sort of thing often. Now this is what I find interesting, according to what she said during our conversation, the interest rate was NOT SET until the sales rep.

took the paperwork back to the office where credit was checked, and the financing contract completed. So essentially it looks to me as if the company is committing FRAUD. You are getting customers signatures and then changing the terms of the contracts to suit your whims. I never received a copy of the contract until Dec of 2023.

The copy of the contract that was sent by the company's representative, by her own acknowledgement, this is not what I signed, this is just your company taking my electronic signature and putting it on a document that your company designed after the fact. The young woman told me she has seen this a lot, well if that is the case, this is illegal. No wonder you have unhappy customers. Also I was asked that I not do anything until I was contacted by her manager and or the manager of the Chattanooga office.
The local manager came out and viewed the work done, and even commented that there was WATER standing in my basement.

There was nothing done in my basement other than the removal of boxes of collectable items that I had stored before the work was done in June of 2020. When I called and spoke with Corporate headquarters, in January of 2024, I spoke with a woman who claimed to be a supervisor who told me that the regional manager would be in touch with me. She also stated that the local manger said that he never saw water in my basement, that it must have happened during the cold spell we had. I have pictures of the basement from the date he came to my home.

(before the cold spell) That proves that everyone except for the young lady who answered the phone when I called on Dec 22, are LIARS. I am still waiting for a call.

I do not owe anything else and I want this matter cleared up without any adverse actions to my credit rating.
Please note the water in the 1st picture of my basement, this is your "Dri Zone" that I was billed almost $30,000 for when I paid a total of $20,000 which was all I was told it would be! Also please note the bills I received never showed a total amount due, only the amount paid!

Termite contract. Waited over 2 years paying every month and they never came back.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had the option of a 2-year or 5-year termite treatment plan. I chose the 5-year plan.

My crawl space had no insulation and was full of spiders. The camera quit working when he tried to take pictures of termites. I spent 2 days in August of 2022 installing insulation and treating termites. So, I've paid $150.48 a month for over 2 years.

They never returned. Phone calls get bounced from department to department until they are dropped.

Poor Service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Orkin used to be a good company. The first couple of years, their service folks came every six months to check termite base stations and once a year to do a complete inspection, including a crawl space check. A few years ago, they changed. Bait station checks were scheduled at random intervals and techs began to simply shine a flashlight through the crawl space access instead of actually checking the full space. In addition, the techs began upselling services, including window sill and frame repairs that my contractor said were not needed.

According to my bank, Orkin has always informed them whenever there is a change in the address for bill payment. Orkin changed their address just over a year ago and failed to inform my bank, so payments were returned. I emailed Orkin about a year ago to check on the problem. Christina Johnson in customer service gave me the latest address, and I let the bank know.

In the meantime, I set up a credit card autopay on their website, so billings would be paid on time.

I emailed Christina to let her know what I had done and asked her what to do next. That message was sent on 11/30/2023.

I heard nothing since.

No charge has posted for Orkin service.

On 2/2/2024, I checked Orkin's website. My account showed no payment due, no services scheduled. It looked like they had abandoned my service. I emailed Christina, told her that since they had abandoned my account, I was cancelling the autopay.

I attempted to cancel the autopay, but the Orkin website would not allow it. Every time I tried, the website flashed an error code stating that the server had timed out the request.

I then edited the credit card info on file with Orkin to show a January 2024 expiration date, making it expired and making it impossible to put through a charge.

I waited for further developments and waited and waited.

Now, on 9/25/2024, I have received nothing further from Orkin. I thought maybe I would hear from someone who would try to get me to renew the service, but no one has reached out.

I guess they don't need my business.

I should have checked the customer reviews before I hired Orkin. I have had to go outside twice to get them to come back inside and finish the job they are working on.

If I had any idea they would be this bad I certainly would not have hired them.

I am considering whether to just tell them to leave or not. Not prepared with enough bags to hold the insulation they are changing out and left for over an hour to get bags....please.

Disappointed with Orkin service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

On 2-5-2024, we serviced our son's house located at 2467 NW 3 Street, Miami, FL 33125. We paid a service fee of $2,426.00 (inv# 26100****) and also $1,340.00 (inv# 26100****) plus insurance.

On several occasions, the salesperson, James Barbosa, was notified and only 4 revisits to the property have been made. We have been told (after he sold us both services mentioned above) that we need to rent the property. Not only have we called him and literally begged for him to service the house under the agreement we have, but I have also used communication via text and left messages in his voicemail. Is this the way Orkin works?

I need to speak to someone who can help us resolve this matter ASAP. Is Jose Jr Rodrigues still the area Manager for Miami? Should I reach out to an attorney? In my world, Orkin stole a total of $3,766.00 from the parents protecting our son's house.

If in reality, we needed to rent, why did he lie to us that all it needed was what James Barbosa sold us and we had to chase him in all ways for him to come back to maintain the service we purchased? Will we be credited? Or is this just another story to your name?

Awaiting a response. Otilia Curry.

Orkin has been servicing my house for the last 3 years and on different occasions I asked them regarding RAT problems. 2 months ago, brand-new Cadillac CT5 with less than 8K miles was parked down on my driveway by my garage & in 3 days' time RATS had chewed on every cable in the engine at 20K damage.

My insurance did cover 19K & $1,000 was the deductible. I hold Orkin company responsible for the lack of attention to the issue and hold accountable for the deductible.
